Overview

For the last 30 years, the binder has been the standard way to pass on critical know-how in manufacturing. Binders are hard to maintain, so they rarely get updated, and factories end up with dozens or hundreds of outdated procedures on the shop floor. The result is defects, recalls and even injuries. HowFactory set out to replace the binder with software.

The challenge

Manufacturers needed to write standard operating procedures and work instructions once, keep them current, and get them to the right person at the right station, on a desktop or a tablet.

What we built

UDT worked on HowFactory for more than two years: a React web application, a Loopback 4 API on MongoDB and AWS, and Elasticsearch so people can find the right process quickly. Teams build collections of processes, follow step-by-step instructions, message each other and get notified when a process changes.

HowFactory develops a SaaS platform for small to medium sized industrial companies to easily create, track, update, and manage processes.
